About

Maireads journey into Millinery did not come in the traditional route.
After a spell in New York working in fine jewellery & giftware Mairead returned home to Ireland and trained and worked as an interior designer for several years.

In 2007 Mairead and a group of friends were heading off to the Galway races but couldn't find suitable headwear. Mairead decided to design and make their pieces.

The feedback was good and she pursued her interest in Millinery by completing Millinery courses with Janie Lashford.
While on maternity leave after having her first child Aoife in 2009 Mairead decided to pursue her hobby of Millinery. It soon progressed into a business with the opening of her shop in 2014.

Mairead specialises in unique Mother of the Bride/Groom & racewear headwear that are a blend of elegance and drama.

Unique fabrics, exotic feathers and crystal embellishments help leave Millinery by Mairead designs quite distinctive. Many material sourcing trips across the globe helps create this.
